Sea Breeze is an exhale, a sigh of relief. The salty air where memories are pointed and perfectly preserved. Growing up, I always wanted to be an explorer sailing unknown waters to greet a new world. Alas, I arrived too late in our history for that. I was born on the East Coast yet spent the majority of my formative years in the Midwest where oceans are non-existent and lakes are the closest thing, but I longed to not see the other side. Where water meets the edge of the world.

Eventually I moved to the Northwest, the only part of the country I had never been, in an attempt to be the closest thing to an explorer that I could. This collection of images, shot on both coasts over a six year period, is about that sensation I get from coastal cities - an isolation, island-like in their way they secludes us, despite often being surround by millions of others. The calming presence of the coast connects us back to nature, ourselves and each other, searching for something that, in a way, makes us all a little bit of an explorer.
